Some bad news for 200 employees of ITT Exelis in Fort Wayne:
ITT Exelis , one of three recently formed companies of what was once ITT, has given layoff notices to more than 200 employees at its facility on West Cook Road in Fort Wayne. The layoffs will take effect at the end of November according to company spokesperson Tim White. Ninety of the people being let go were recently called back to help fill a surge in production that has since ended.
The layoffs were necessary due to a drop in production of the company’s Sincgar radios and cuts in defense spending. According to White, company leaders are aggressively working to transition to different products to produce.
